DPNM Statement on Kamala Harris Securing Democratic Nomination for President (Aug 2nd, 2024)

Today, Kamala Harris officially became the Democratic Party’s nominee for President after it was announced she had already received most of the Democratic National Convention delegates’ virtual vote which started yesterday. All 45 members of the New Mexico delegation voted for Harris. 

Democratic Party of New Mexico Spokesperson Daniel Garcia released the following statement: 

“While Republicans are in crisis mode over the Trump/Vance ticket’s childish meltdowns and unearthed creepy comments, Democrats have been consolidating support around our presidential candidate and sharing our values with working Americans. The energy from our elected leaders, DNC delegates, and the surge of supporters looking to volunteer for the first time, shows that New Mexico Democrats are all in for Kamala and that we are in a moment of historic enthusiasm. With this upswing momentum, it is no surprise that Trump is too afraid to debate the Vice President.”
