Adrienne Enghouse is a mother and 25 year veteran nurse, primarily working in the emergency department and Intensive Care Unit, most recently at Sandoval Regional Medical Center in Rio Rancho.  She is a Democrat and a 15 year union activist and leader.
From the frontlines of nursing, she watched first hand her patients make excruciating decisions between healthcare and housing, or eating. She watched her colleagues be exploited by their employers, increasing the moral injury driving them to leave the industry, increasing the fragility of our healthcare system.
This career – her calling – brought her into union activism. It was there she found a gateway to experiencing the transformational power of political activism. Becoming politically engaged through her union, she saw firsthand how politics and policy could make a difference for her patients and coworkers.
She learned how policy makers could make standards that protect patient and practitioner. Nurses care about people, and people need to care about nurses
