Greetings NM Federation of Democratic Women!
I hope this email finds you and your loved ones all in good health as we roll into 2022. This is a big election year and I want to say thank you for all that you do to support the Federation and the Democratic Party of New Mexico. As you may have heard, we will be having our Women In Blue Day virtually again this year. In planning, it was difficult to confirm our meeting spaces and lunch venue, so the Board determined to hold it Virtually.
We are working on developing our resolutions for this year’s legislative session, with the help of the Resolutions & Legislative Committee Chairwoman Idalia Lechuga-Tena, and the recommendations of our Executive Committee. We are focusing on increasing pay for teachers, child care workers and health care workers; along with support for funding for food insecurity, housing insecurity and behavioral health.
I am excited to announce that although this year’s event will be virtual, it will be FREE to all of our members. This is happening due to generous contributions made by several of our legislators, members and county federations.
The event will begin at 9:00 AM, for the meet and greet where we will hear from some of our legislators who are sponsoring bills related to our resolutions. We will then hear from State Candidates in the 2022 Election Cycle. We will have a presentation on our resolutions, training on how to lobby from home, and our Keynote Speaker this year is the Hon. Maggie Toulouse Oliver, NM Secretary of State. We will be presenting our President’s Award of Excellence this year to NM State Representative Gail Chasey, and possibly to a surprise recipient.
