IN MY HUMBLE OPINION

As Chair of the Democratic Party of Sandoval County, I hear many ideas, suggestions, and criticisms, and 99% of the time, it is given kindly – as if people want to see Democrats in our county do better.

Unfortunately, this was not the case this week.  Many of us received a letter from a woman who is not a registered voter in Sandoval County, but she wasn’t trying to make things better for Sandoval Dems.  Her goal was to stir up division within our county party.  She hurled accusations against two strong Democrats who are not running for office this election cycle, elected officials who are too busy accomplishing the people’s work.

One of the most alarming accusations was that these two Dems were actively working against two candidates who ARE currently running.  The emails were sent to many Democrats in our county.  There was no proof offered – none.  It was accusatory with no supporting evidence.

It seems that the goal of the woman who sent the emails was to sow discord in our party, weaken our focus, break our stride, and make us fight each other instead of work to achieve our common goals.

Well, it’s not going to work.  Sandoval Dems stand tall together, now and always.  Letters from cowardly strangers outside of our county will not work to tear us apart and make us turn against each other.

I cannot speak for everyone, but as your Chair, I am going to publicly send this message to the author of the letter and paraphrase our next President of the United States.

You have something to say about Sandoval Dems?  SAY IT TO MY FACE.

Alexandria Piland, DPSC Chair
