JOIN THE RESISTENCE
RESIST! RESIST! RESIST! RESIST! RESIST! RESIST!
Feel sad when you reflect back on Nov 5th?
Feel discouraged as we move toward Jan 7th, 2025?
Get angry when you hear about another incompetent, shady character selected by Trump for his cabinet?
Think, “if only I could leave the country”?
Don’t give up. FIGHT BACK!!! JOIN THE RESISTENCE!
It’s not all doom and gloom. Remember, New Mexico is a deep blue state! Let’s keep it that way. The entire congressional delegation is Democratic, the state administrative officers are all Dems, the legislature is dominated by Dems. Sandoval County is mixed. We can make it bluer!
How to fight back? Below are ways to join the resistance.
1. Become an ACTIVE member of the Democratic Party of Sandoval County (DPSC).
*Volunteer (Plenty of opportunities)
*Attend Party events (1st Friday at the Range in Bernalillo, 2nd Saturday at M’Tucci’s in Rio Rancho, Last Saturday of the month Koffee Klatch at Headquarters in Corrales). All events begin at 11:00am.
*Become a Sustaining Donor to the DPSC. (It takes $$$ to win elections and the DPSC helps local candidates with money and does innumerable things to help local candidates win).
*Look on this website for other opportunities.
2. Become a candidate yourself. Don’t wait for others to pick up the mantel. You could run for a school board position, a county position, a state legislative position, a municipal position, etc. Contact the Chairperson of the DPSC at chair@sandovaldemocrats.org to learn how to become a candidate.
3. Become a member of Sandoval County Indivisible. This national organization was formed in 2017 right after the first Trump election. Its mission “is to cultivate a local grassroots movement of concerned citizens, allied with other local and national groups, with the intent to help elect progressive leaders and realize bold progressive policies. We model the values of inclusion, fairness and justice.” You can find them on Facebook
4. Lobby your local politicians at the city, county and state level to reject the MAGA agenda and to support the progressive agenda. Show them there will be a political price to pay for supporting traitorous insurrectionists. Make you voice heard. Attend city, county and regional governmental meetings and speak out! Write opinion pieces for local media. Get active in social media.
5. Serve an Internship with the DPSC. If you are a high school or college student this could be an especially rewarding experience and earn you some credit toward a diploma or degree.
6. Visit the pueblos within the county, along with DPSC leaders, for their feast days. These events are a cultural and educational opportunity and a way for Democrats to stay connected to the indigenous peoples who are vital for Democratic party success in local elections.
