Volunteer of the Month – March 2023 – Steven Dapson.
Maybe you’ve noticed that the DPSC has a fine sound system that we use at all of our events. It was necessary for us to be able to broadcast our meetings, and really, for people to just be able to hear what speakers are saying.
But have you noticed that there is one guy who hauls all of the equipment, sets it up, makes sure it is perfectly tuned, runs around and hands you a microphone if you have a question to ask the speaker? Afterwards, he breaks it down, packs it up, and hauls it away for next time. He will even do this for other democratic groups in our county.
That guy is Steven Dapson. Steven has experience setting up and breaking down sound systems, and the Democratic Party of Sandoval County has been the beneficiary of his experience, so the next time you are at an event, say hello to Steven!
Steven was a military child, who was born at Mather Air Force Base (AFB) which is now Rancho Cordoba in the Sacramento, CA area. He moved to Albuquerque in 1974. Steven is a graduate of Del Norte High School and also attended CNM. He has been a Sandoval County resident for 14 years.
He found a real passion for the nightlife and ran lights at Confetti’s for many years. Then traveled with a couple of local and star bands. Then he worked for ProWest Productions setting up concerts in various venues
A little known fact about Steven is that when he was young Steven was a great baseball player and phenomenal pitcher, but an obstacle to his pathway was an injury that prevented him from becoming a professional player. Steven is an excellent and inventive cook. Had life taken a different turn, he could have been a chef.
Thank you, Steven Dapson for all you do for the Democratic Party of Sandoval County.
