Bill Woldman – Candidate for Corrales Councilman
This March 3rd, with early voting starting on February 4th, Corralenos will be asked to fill three vacancies on the Village Council. I would like to urge you to vote for Bill Woldman to fill the District 2 seat. For the past 21 years Bill and his wife Barbara Bayer have lived in Corrales. Bill will bring to the position the education, experience and temperament necessary for dealing with the issues facing our Village.
Bill earned a B.A. from Rutgers University and two Masters, one each from Northeastern and Brandeis Universities. After a 10-year stint in the Washington, DC area as a Senior Manager at Aspen Systems Corporation in Rockville, Maryland and as an Analyst at the Congressional Research Service of the Library of Congress, Bill and Barbara moved to New Mexico. For 10 years Bill owned a small business—Gourmet Bagel & Coffee Co.—known for its generous support of non-profits and schools, as well as really, really good bagels!
For the past 13 years, Bill has been the Field Representative for Senator Tom Udall, serving as the “eyes and ears on the ground” for the Senator in areas as diverse as economic development, the nation’s national security labs, animal issues, flood control efforts, criminal justice issues, environmental concerns, and numerous other matters, many of which have had a direct impact on the Village.
One of Bill’s many strengths is his ability to network with different groups and find consensus, to put together coalitions to address complex issues, and to listen to concerns. He has the temperament and patience to listen to all sides. Ours is a Village that has many concerns facing it as we go forward: services for seniors; policies for stray and abandoned animals; efforts to attract and support local, sustainable businesses which would increase our GRT; and our need, above all, to protect the unique character of our Village.
I believe Bill brings the background we need to represent us on the Village Council and I hope you will agree with me that he does. At a time when he could be enjoying his upcoming retirement, Bill is choosing to continue his commitment to public service and to give back to the community that he calls home.
I hope you will join me in voting for Bill to be our next Village Councilor for District 2.
