From the ABQ Journal – May 26, 2021

THE ALBUQUERQUE Journal endorsement for CD 1 was disappointing. New Mexico needs new voices and fresh thinking to solve the problems facing the state.

Melanie Stansbury is a native New Mexican who will pursue what is best for New Mexico with experience, intelligence and determination.

State Rep. Stansbury sponsored 17 bills during the 2021 regular legislative session that addressed solutions to urgent problems facing New Mexicans, including HB 22, Grow Your Own Teacher Act Scholarships, which was passed and signed into law. She also supported HB 132, 133 and 207 to address hunger in New Mexico.

She has received numerous endorsements. They include the Alliance for Retired Americans, National Education Association, The UFW United Farm Workers Union, and the Native American Caucus of New Mexico, to name just a few.

A former staffer in the U.S. Senate, she helped write and pass bipartisan legislation in Congress. As a former House Finance and Appropriations Committee member and White House Office of Management and Budget employee, she knows how to deliver on a budget that serves the people of New Mexico.

Stansbury will show up in the U.S. House of Representatives prepared to work for all New Mexicans.
