After Trump’s Infrastructure Failures, President Biden is Rebuilding

President Biden and Vice President Harris announced $5.8 billion from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to expand access to clean drinking water, replace lead pipes, improve wastewater infrastructure, and remove PFAS contamination in water across the country as part of the largest investment in clean water in American history. This brings the total amount of clean water funding announced from the President’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to $22 billion, including roughly $1 billion for New Mexico.

“President Biden and Vice President Harris believe every New Mexican deserves access to clean drinking water and recognize that underserved communities in our state and across the country have been left behind for far too long. The Biden-Harris administration is continuing to deliver on their promises and making a historic investment in water infrastructure for every American,” said Democratic Party of New Mexico Chair Jessica Velasquez. “This announcement is just the latest life-changing impact President Biden has delivered for working New Mexicans that never would have happened if it were up to Donald Trump.”

Since President Biden signed it into law two years ago, $5 billion in Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding has been announced and is headed to New Mexico with over 444 specific projects identified. Approximately $2.1 billion has been announced for transportation – to invest in roads, bridges, public transit, ports and airports. New Mexico received $1.2 billion to connect everyone in the state to reliable high-speed internet and, as of today, more than 181,000 New Mexico households are already saving on their monthly internet bill due to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

While Trump and Republicans continue to obstruct President Biden’s agenda at the expense of building stronger communities, historic investments from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law are delivering historic investments right here in New Mexico.
