Ward Meetings – February 8, 2020
Great showing of support at the Sandoval County Ward A meeting, held to elect delegates to the County Party’s Pre-Primary Convention! Thanks to all that came out to volunteer, show support and get involved.
Ward B of the Sandoval County Democratic Party met Saturday at the Corrales Senior Center where 87 democrats elected 4 delegates to the Democratic Party of New Mexico Pre-Primary Convention to be held March 7 at Buffalo Thunder Resort. Marco Serna, John Blair and Laura Montoya CD-3 candidates were in attendance and spoke to those in attendance.
Kyra Ellis Moore spoke on behalf of Teresa Leger Fernandez and Lisa Hannah spoke on behalf of Valerie Plame. Candidates for county clerk or their representative also spoke as well as local candidates running for Village Council. It was a great turnout and all in attendance indicated that they would stay involved and volunteer in the general election.
Sandoval County Democrats in Ward C met Feb. 8 in Cuba to elect delegates to the Sandoval County Convention and the New Mexico State Convention. Pat Gallegos, Ward Chair, presided over the meeting of more than 30 Democrats from the Ward, representatives of Candidates, County Commissioner Ken Eichwald, and County Chair John Sweda. Enthusiasm ran high with unified determination to prepare for the 2020 general election to help defeat Donald Trump.
Sandoval County Democrats in Ward D met Feb. 8 at Maggie M. Cordova Elementary School in Rio Rancho to select delegates to the County and State Pre-Primary Conventions. State Auditor Brian Colon attended the meeting, presided by Oscar Solis, Ward Chair, along with numerous candidates and petition seekers.
Ward D selected 10 delegates from Congressional Dist. 3, and 1 delegate from Congressional Dist. 1. Attendees discussed need for activism and unity as the Primary and General Elections loom in 2020.
Deb Dapson and Nancy Gloman conducted a successful Ward E meeting on February 8. We had 54 Democrats sign in to vote, and elected 20 delegates for CD3, 4 alternate delegates, and one delegate for CD1. This is the full amount allotted for Ward E.
These delegates will next meet at Viva Events for the Sandoval County Pre-Primary Convention.
A special thanks to The Local Brewhouse in Rio Rancho for accommodating us with the perfect venue, and the perfect staff of servers. Their hospitality truly added to the success of the meeting.
